We want to provide access to books for needy women and girls within the 62 countries of the SIE Federation. The idea is to improve literacy and widen knowledge among women and girls. Literacy is the key to education and creates opportunities for jobs and economic empowerment.

Share Our Vision

Soroptimists plan and implement projects to improve the lives of women and girls.

The SIE partnership with My Book Buddy aims to promote literacy, which is in line with one of the targets of the UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 to ensure by 2030 that all youth….achieve literacy and numeracy. This cooperation also conforms to the Federation’s biennium theme “Soroptimists Invest in Education”. The vision is to provide as many needy children as possible with access to books, as books are the portal to knowledge and empowerment!  pdf-icon

Support Our Effort

“Our goal is that an additional 34,000 girls have access to books by the end of this cooperation”

To raise the necessary funds for the bookcases and books and to implement the library system at schools, Soroptimists can sponsor reading events at the schools in many of our 62 member countries under the motto: “Children read books for children who need books”!  pdf-icon
